Re:Mapping (Un)Belonging
(the) multiple stories of everyone/others/someone
it’s made of everything of everything
this installation at The Wilson Art Gallery & Museum offers a fragment of shared voices, telling stories of (un)belonging
these stories are held in the textures and lines of the drawings, in the fingerprints left in the
clay. they’re in the hand gestures, in peoples’ words. told and untold. heard and unheard.

In 2024 throughout the months of June-October, a number of non-hierarchical arts workshops
took place. These interventions held space and place for meaningful encounters and, where
suitable, for exploring and navigating emotions of (un)belonging.
Stories of (un)belonging, collected at these workshops, form a co-creative aspect of this show,
incorporating artwork, writings and audio stories shared. The research process, which grew
and developed over time, was the most important aspect of this project.
This exhibition, as one of the outcomes, offers an insight into what (un)belonging might mean
to people- what influences, and what (might)(could) enhance this feeling; with an aim to reclaim
shared spaces as repositories of reciprocal emotion and shared experiences, envisioning them
as future spaces of solidarity, unity, and equality.
